"Reverence" - Thomas May, CEOoil on Belgian linen, 40"x60" commissioned by Simmons First National Bank | First meeting with Mr. MayNever having met Tommy May, I painted his portrait entirely from photographic references, as the portrait was to be a surprise for him at his retirement tribute. For almost 3 months, I commenced painting each day with a prayer that I would be able to convey this great man's depth and spirit, and by the time I finished the painting I felt very connected with him. So when I actually met him in person at the portrait unveiling on December 5th in Arkansas, I felt like I was meeting an old friend. | "Paul Loyd"oil on Belgian linen 40"x48" commissioned by Southern Methodist University | "Joanne Smith Cox"oil on Belgian linen 32"x36" |

All artwork is by a group of the homeless called The Stewpot Artists. Their work is powerful and increasingly being collected by patrons statewide. Here, I'm visiting with one of the artists, Leon Pollard, about his beautiful painting "Aquarium." Ninety percent of sales go directly to the artists with the remaining ten percent going back to the Stewpot. |

"Trinity Within and Without"a painting I did in high school to represent Father, Son, and Holy Spirit | "Essence Embodied"a painting I did in high school to represent the soul embodied | A few days before one of my best friends Karen James left for Zambia, Africa to meet, for the first time, the child that she sponsors there, I decided to paint a portrait for her to take to little Abigail. With only a small photo of Abigail to work from, I quickly completed the painting and had a print made of it so that Karen could tuck it into her duffle (the original went to Karen). | Illustration for Neiman MarcusThis is the first illustration that I did for Neiman Marcus: it was a full-page ad for "Maud Frizon" shoes and appeared in major newspapers across the country. I was so excited! |
